The article analyzes the stages of the historical and political development of the Kurds in Syria from the period of the French mandate to the present day. Using the method of historical and comparative analysis, this article focuses on the important historical and political processes that influenced the Kurds. The study discusses and analyzes, in chronological order, topics such as French policy towards the Kurds, unfolded events after Syria’s independence, and the state of the Kurds in modern-day Syria. The article also presents the results of the recounting at the region of Al-Hasakah and the essence of the “Arab Belt”. The study also discusses the importance of Kurdish forces in the fight against the Islamic State and proposes an optimal solution to the Kurdish problem.
